Congratulations to
Margaret Martin & Katie Orellana
Our 2021 recipients of the
Pioneer Valley Project Together, We Rise Award
(Previously the Micah Award)
Radical love, that draws individuals to act in unconditional love, motivated only by God’s call to be a servant to all those in need has inspired these two women .
Margaret has always been drawn to Our Lady. Margaret has worked in programs at Holy Name to bring the Catholic faith to special education classes. Inspired by her parents faith and their ministries; Margaret has carried on the torch. Her prayerful Marian spirituality centers everything that she does: as a Eucharistic minister, preparing meals in the Loaves and Fishes Program, visiting the home bound, preparing for Holy Week and as a Sacristan. “Prayer is simply part of my life, it is just who I am and Our Lady is my blessed inspiration.”
Katie is inspired by her mother Patricia and by three words: Piety, study, action, terms that are part of a Catholic program called Cursillos . Katie hears the call to serve: “Speak Lord your servant is listening.” Hearing God’s call to radical love has inspired Katie to prepare food for those in need, to visit those in the parish who are shut-ins and bring the Eucharist to them.
Radical love for neighbor has motivated Katie to work in helping an immigrant family to stay in the United States. Katie recognizes Jesus’ message in the work that she does.
Saint Mother Theresa once said: “It is not about how much you do, it is about the amount of love you put into what you do.” Holy Name Parish is honored to recognize Margaret and Katie for their unconditional love and service.
