I would like to re-echo the sentiments expressed by Father Jon, in thanking you for the warm welcome that you have extended to both of us. Like him, I am excited about the opportunity that lies ahead of us as we minister to the good people of Holy Name Parish.
I am originally from Nigeria, ordained a priest 18 years ago for the Diocese of Owerri. My mother died when I was a little over one year and my father passed on 7 years ago. I have 3 brothers who live in Pennsylvania and a sister who lives in Nigeria. Between my three brothers and sister I have 13 nephews and nieces, one of whom is going to Harvard Law School this fall.
I lived in Rome for 4 years and in Milan for two during my graduate studies, majoring for my PhD in Philosophy, from the Pontifical Urban university in Rome. I also have a few Masters degrees including one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from the Regina Apostolorum University in Rome and the Divine Mercy University in Virginia.
Prior to coming to the Diocese of Springfield, I served in the Archdiocese of Hartford Connecticut for 10 years, four of which were spent at Saint Justin and Saint Michael parish in Hartford where I was the parish Administrator. I am the founder of the Divine Mercy International Widows and Orphans Organization (DMIWOO), and the author of the book: Reawakening Hope: The Mission of a Motherless Child.
It’s an honor to be able to call you my parishioners and to be here to serve you in whatever ways that I can. As I begin this new experience, I look forward to a fruitful collaboration with our pastor, Father Jon, in attending to your spiritual needs. God bless you always.
